Timeless Path

This work explores my skepticism toward the concept of time and the mechanisms used to measure it. In this project, traditional Chinese timekeeping tools like the sundial and lunar phases are integrated with Roman numerals, Arabic numerals, constellations, and other temporal standards from diverse cultures around the world. Together, they construct a chaotic mechanism for reading time, rooted in humanity's traditional ways of expressing temporal concepts.

A day is divided into 24 hours, an hour into 60 minutes, and a minute into 60 seconds—standards established as a consensual framework for understanding and utilizing time. However, time itself remains a deeply privatized personal experience. Whether considered as a "container" or as a form of "content," it possesses an inherent "elusiveness." This work tries to challenge the numb progression of time by creating a chaotic timekeeping tool that loosens our grasp on rigid temporal concepts, giving a space for reevaluation and reflection.
